These courses are for those who want or need to take GCSE English or maths starting in September 2022 and need help to prepare for the course. The GCSE is a demanding and intensive qualification which has strict entry requirements. The Pre-GCSE will prepare you to be successful in the GCSE assessment and will prepare you with essential knowledge and skills before you begin the GCSE course. This will ultimately help you succeed in the GCSE.
English: You will learn all about how writers create meaning through words. You will read texts and learn to analyse them. You will be able to identify different techniques and will be taught what they are called. You will practise planning and organising different types of writing. You will learn about good punctuation and grammar.
Maths: You will be taught how to work with whole and decimal numbers, convert decimal numbers into fractions and percentages. You will learn basic algebra and techniques for effective studying along side different methods for multiplying and dividing.
Upon successful completion of a Pre-GCSE course you will be guaranteed an automatic place on one of our English or maths GCSE courses starting in September 2022.
You will need to be assessed for the course by attending an initial assessment session, details of which can be found here. You can also find out more by emailing email@example.com.
The courses are free to all adults over 19.
Anyone who is interested in joining a course should ask about enrolment at the reception of one of our CALAT centres or call Huma Rizvi on 020 8726 7777 ext. 64349.
